Debug AI
Debug AI helps you investigate issues on a device through a guided chat session. It is available from Tools when your organization has the feature enabled and your role allows access.
Open Debug AI
- Open Tools → AI Debug in the side navigation.
- On first use, start a new chat and pick the device you want to work on.
- Provide SSH connection details when prompted (user, authentication method, port, and optional knowledge bases your team uses).
The portal creates a session and opens the conversation for that device.
Work inside a session
- The main area shows the conversation between you and the assistant.
- The sidebar lists sessions so you can switch between ongoing investigations.
- Use Knowledge base (when available) to attach reference material the assistant can use alongside live access.
What to expect
- The assistant proposes diagnostic steps and may run commands through the secure channel configured for the session.
- Sessions are tied to a specific device and SSH configuration; start a new session when you change scope.
Good practices
- Describe symptoms and recent changes in the first message.
- Confirm you are connected to the intended environment (production vs staging) before running destructive commands.
- Close or delete sessions you no longer need so lists stay manageable.
Privacy and security
- Treat credentials and command output as sensitive. Follow your organization’s policies for sharing screenshots or transcripts outside Varco.
